Daily Life of an Unknown Modern Artist: Day 1

Updated: Jun 17

Welcome to the start of a new blog series showcasing the daily life of an unknown artist in todays' modern age of data and technology.

At the start of this daily blog, I have created my own website (www.leodrysdale.com), I have found my style and technique that I want to excel at in my own way however I don't nearly have enough paintings in this style for even a small exhibition (only a couple of paintings of landscapes around where I live). My painting style is pointillism using oil on canvas as my medium. Pointillism is a form of neo-impressionism and the artists I look up to are the likes of Seurat, Signac and Pissarro. Below is a picture showing the latest picture I have painted in my chosen style.

Added to this, on my site I have prints and cards which I am selling for anyone who is interested in buying copies any of my paintings. There is an intention of selling other merchandise and courses in the future but for now I will stick with prints, cards and maybe some online courses where users can pay to learn about things like colour mixing and painting techniques.

A bit more about me, I really am an unknown artist. I have recently set-up my website however I have had no orders so far and I have no campaigns or ads running. I know a fair bit about marketing as this is what I do as a full-time job but hopefully one day I can be a full-time artist instead.

This daily blog will cover all aspects of my life and trying to make it in a very competitive industry as an unknown artist. I will talk about my progression as an artist along with how I am feeling and any proposed next steps. These blog posts will be as short as possible without omitting any useful information.

Whether you are an artist or someone interested in how it is to be an artist, I hope that you will get a deeper insight into the daily life of an unknown modern day artist.
